Pruning & Trimming
Comprehensive Pruning Services
Tree trimming and pruning are skilled activities that require proper training. Correct pruning results in trees that are healthy and structurally sound. Incorrect practices, however, weaken tree health, create hazards, and cause lasting damage.
At Arbor’s Edge, we use pruning methods that are grounded in plant science, coupled with an eye for aesthetics, to meet your needs wile optimizing tree health.
Crown Raising
As trees develop, their lower limbs sometimes grow against structures, crowd understory shrubs, sag onto roofs, and obstruct pathways and driveways.
Crown raising refers to selectively pruning or removing a tree’s lower branches to provide light, protect structures, and maintain clearance.
Crown Cleaning
Unmaintained trees often contain many dead, broken, or weakly attached branches. In larger trees, these can sometimes pose a significant hazard.
Deadwood removal and correct thinning improve light penetration, air circulation, overall structure, and drastically enhance the tree’s appearance.
Structural Pruning
Unpruned trees usually develop dangerous structural defects, despite being otherwise healthy. These defects include weak branch attachments, over-extended limbs, and co-dominant stems.
These issues can be difficult to address in mature trees, so training younger trees is crucial to preventing future hazards. Regular pruning of young and medium aged trees will encourage strong structure and maximize their serviceable life.
Crown Restoration
Urban trees are frequently damaged, either by natural events, or more often from incorrect pruning. These trees can become unhealthy, unsightly, and dangerous.
In many cases, we can preserve damaged trees through corrective pruning, and slowly restore them to a safer, healthier condition.
